Are you registered ? #XXVOTE campaign uses crowdfunding to engage women voters

The general election is just around the corner, and there are only a few weeks left to make sure you are registered to vote.

With only 51% of people aged 18-25 turning out to vote in 2010, and less than half of those women, one campaign has turned to crowdfunding to spread the word among young women about the importance of having a voice this May.

The XX Vote aims to raise at least £5,000 to reach out to 3.5million 18-25 year olds, resulting in a four-week campaign led by young filmmakers, producers and artists to promote participation among their peers.

The ambitious project will involve producing a two-minute film, graphics and e-flyers, using the hashtag '#XXVOTE', and hopes to engage young women in particular, as despite this demographic numbering nearly three million, they are the group least likely to register and participate in the election.

There are only three days left to pledge support - and only a few weeks before the April 20th voting registration deadline - so to encourage young women to be heard this May, visit the #XXVOTE Crowdfunder page here and watch the appeal for support below.
