Chloe Moretz to play Carrie in horror remake

Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz is to play Carrie in an upcoming remake of the 70s horror cult classic.

Chloe, 15, confirmed the news on Twitter, saying: "Never been so happy in my life! Thank you Kim Peirce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime I will never forget!"

Haley Bennett, Dakota Fanning and Shailene Woodley will also star in the movie, with Jodie Foster or Julianne Moore slated in the role of Carrie's fanatic mother.

The original 1976 film made a star of Sissy Spacek, who won an Oscar nomination for her depiction of a bullied teenager who discovers she has supernatural powers.

Her chilling performance in the big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's novel went down in movie history.

Chloe is fast becoming a star of substance in Hollywood; she last appeared in Martin Scorsese's family movie Hugo and will soon start work on Tim Burton's Dark Shadows alongside Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer.
