It looks set to be a glorious summer. But, as the days heat up, and we frantically search the shops for seasonal pieces, it can bring a whole world of problems.

So if, like us, you struggle sartorially when the weather starts to heat up, an all-in-one is the answer. Whether you need to be smart, casual or even find a stand-out outfit for one of many weddings in your calendar, you can find everything you need in a jumpsuit.

Once the reserve of farmers and lumberjacks, jumpsuits, playsuits and dungarees now come in a wealth of styles - whether it be feminine and floral or classically tailored. And there's no sign of them going out of fashion any time soon.

From classic utility denim to tropical and even cocktail styles, check out the best of what this season has to offer in our gallery below.

  • Fear and Loathing playsuit

Inspired by cult film, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, this olive-green House of Holland cotton-barkcloth playsuit is loud and proud. A dream festival piece, or just for weekends escaping the city. Wear open over a white t-shirt or button to the top for the full military effect.

  • Crochet-trimmed pinstripe jumpsuit

Who knew crochet and pinstripe could be such a winning combination? Goen J, that's who. A feminine twist on a masculine fabric gives this jumpsuit a certain je ne sais quoi. The lace-seamed pockets give a subtle detailing whilst the loose cut keeps to the angrogyny of the style.

  • Pencil stripe culotte jumpsuit

The fifties-style cut brings the cheeky back to this jumpsuit. The tie-front creates a subtle keyhole effect, while the wide legs keep it classy. Wear it while wandering the Riviera and sipping on Champagne.

  • Leopard poplin playsuit

Bring out your wild side with this utility-style sketched leopard print playsuit. Made from light cotton-poplin, it will keep you cool in what's set to be a scorching summer. A tie-waist and pockets give it that added utilitarian edge. Pair with Birkenstocks for the full look.

  • Black skinny dungarees

A black dungaree is a wardrobe essential, and this MOTO one is great for the skinny leg. Roll up and team with plimsolls, or pair with heels for a modern evening look.

    £48, Topshop

  • Linen-blend jumpsuit

Simple, clean, light, classic: this & Other Stories linen piece is a jumpsuit that will keep giving summer, after summer.

  • Pencil stripe dungarees

Make like Andy Pandy in these playful dungarees. Whether you're standing at an easel painting landscapes or frolicking in fields, wearing this will bring a new joie de vivre to every occasion. Perfect with a pair of clean white high-top converse.

    £39.99, Zara

  • Monochrome jumpsuit

Effortlessly cool, this navy and white striped jumpsuit is a summer staple. Wear over a white T-shirt for a nonchalant vibe, or over a crisp white shirt for the office. The loose fit makes it super comfortable, while the wide cropped legs keep it modern and comfortable.

    £130, Whistles

  • Tropicana jumpsuit

There's no need to book a flight to the tropics - when you chuck on this jumpsuit you'll be there. The shirt collar adds a smart effect, whilst the bold print keeps it poppy and fun.

    £8, New Look

  • Crimson jumpsuit

You're certain to stand out with this crimson jumpsuit. The shoulder-zips make it primed for layering strings of silver pendants atop, and the gathered waist encouraged the addition of a belt. A versatile piece, all round.

    £29.99, Zara

  • Embroidered dungarees

These cropped white denim dungarees are embroidered with poppy florals. Cut with a waistcoat-style front and wide-legs, it's a fun holiday piece. Perfect with a block-heeled ankle boot.

    £390, House of Holland

  • Classic denim dungarees

These denim dungarees are a cult classic. The frayed detailing gives them an edge, whilst the skinny leg keeps it feminine.

  • Striped tie-waist jumpsuit

This Ace and Jig jumpsuit exudes chic insouciance. Cut in a relaxed silhouette, its neckline and cuffs are detailed with gathering, and the waist-tie helps smarten it up for elegant occasions. Wear with a trainer for a casual pub trip, or smarten up with wedges.

    £255, Liberty

  • Jungle jumpsuit

A perfect alternative to the classic wedding look, this acid green jungle jumpsuit is 100% silk. With wide apron straps and culotte legs, it's perfect with heels for the evening, or paired with a wide-brimmed hat for a posh picnic.

    £230, Whistles

  • Crochet crepe jumpsuit

Never failing to create perfect sportswear essentials, Weekend Max Mara have nailed it again with this silk-crepe crochet number. Smart enough for work but easily relaxed for off-duty hours, it will have you sorted all season.

    £275, Weekend Max Mara

  • Polka dot jumpsuit

Make a statement in this bold polka-dot navy and red jumpsuit. Fluid crepe-de-chine keeps the style relaxed and light, while the draped neckline and cinched-in waist make it ideal for smart occasions.

  • Wide leg cotton jumpsuit

In a light cotton fabric with a denim wash finish, this wide-leg, elasticated waist jumpsuit is built for maximum comfort. The simple details of a concealed zip back, seam pockets and rolled sleeves give it a clean Japanese aesthetic. Add a pair of black sunglasses and you're set.

    £99, Cos

  • Paisley jumpsuit

If you think florals for spring are far too clichéd, then this paisley print is the one for you. The tie-waist detailing makes it perfect for adjusting to all bodyshapes, and the linen fabric will keep you cool on the muggiest of days.

  • Floral culotte jumpsuit

Channel seventies style in this floral culotte jumpsuit. The cut stops it from being too girlie, while the print screams of summer barbecues and pints of Pimms. It will also take you seamlessley from day to night - which is an added bonus.

  • Khaki playsuit

Utility styles were all the rage on the Spring/Summer '16 catwalks. Vanessa Ward's collarless khaki playsuit in woven cotton is a great way to tap-into the trend and to channel Rosie the Riveter.

  • Bengal striped strappy jumpsuit

Channel Bridget Riley in this bengal striped strappy jumpsuit. A V-neck provides an interesting twist and the gathered waist creates a blouson leg that would look great with a rough roll.

    £25, New look

  • Safari belted jumpsuit

This YSL-style safari jumpsuit is bang on trend. Made from soft, textured tencel, it perfectly fuses comfort with chic. The added belt smartens things up. Wear it whilst stampede-spotting.

    £120, French Connection

  • Cocktail wrap jumpsuit

Jumpsuits aren't just for casual, and this monochrome French Connection one attests to that. The wrap front creates a deep V-shaped neckline, while soft pleating keeps things smart and feminine. Goodbye cocktail dress hello, you.

    £85, French Connection

  • Bib-front dungaree shorts

Bring out your inner child in this cute-as-a-button short dungaree from See by Chloé. The bib-front and wide-leg create a more comfortable cut (and avoid any unwanted thigh chafing), while the rose-gold style metal details and rainbow stripe straps add a fashion twist to a utilitarian classic. Team with flip flops for a walk on the beach.

  • Neon floral boilersuit

A real investment piece, this Diane Von Furstenburg jumpsuit has the look of a two-piece thanks to the contrasting florals, for those who aren't quite ready for a full boilersuit. The wide floor-sweeping legs make it perfect for an alternative wedding outfit. Dress down with a denim jacket and sandals.
