Take a trip to Chanel’s pop-up florist

Blooms and perfumery are inextricably linked – and no more so than this weekend when Chanel’s shop in London’s Covent Garden becomes a florist.

So if you buy a scent, you’ll also get a beautiful bouquet to match. Très chic, très clever. To mark the opening, Joanna Norman, Chanel’s fragrance expert, explains the floral traditions behind the iconic perfumes.

“At the heart of Chanel Nº5 is May rose (which only blooms in May) and jasmine. Small white flowers such as jasmine create an intense fragrance.”

Coco Mademoiselle

“The note that sets this apart from other Chanel fragrances is patchouli. It creates a deep earthy touch and it works particularly well with rose.”

£95 for 100ml

Coco Noir

“What makes this perfume so special is the spring freshness of narcissus which adds a luminous glint to the scent.”

£106 for 100ml
